NHI Policy Paper for modern, affordable and accessible National Health Insurance This is a policy paper about affordability and equitable access to quality health care services. It presents a framework for establishing the first modern, planned and comprehensive National Health Insurance programme for The Bahamas and is a statement about advancing the social contract that exists between our people and our country. The shared belief in Universal Health Coverage-the principle that eligible legal residents of The Bahamas should have equitable access to affordable, high-quality medical care irrespective of their socio-economic status, personal health history or where they reside-is a national value our Government holds dear.
